Melissa Carter is a government affairs professional with a background in communications and public affairs strategy. She joined Georgia Life Sciences after three years of working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
Most recently, Melissa served as the Deputy Communications Director for a senior United States Senator. During her tenure on Capitol Hill, Melissa helped promote several key policy objectives, played a pivotal role in executing comprehensive communication, outreach, and press strategies, and built and maintained several valuable relationships with federal staffers as well as reporters. She has extensive knowledge of both the federal legislative and appropriations processes, which she will use to become a dynamic team member of Georgia Life Sciences.
In her role with Georgia Life Sciences, Melissa provides leadership in developing and implementing a public policy strategy; serves as the liaison for the organization’s Patient Advocacy Alliance; and actively works to position Georgia Life Sciences as a strong partner and unifier on issues of importance, working towards enhancing the economic health of Georgia’s life sciences community.
Melissa is an honors graduate of the University of Mississippi and currently resides in Smyrna, GA.
